Checking off & status
Every item has several statuses that you set in everyday use (view mode).
Packed / open
With the checkbox on the left of an item you check it off as packed; it is shown struck through and dimmed. Clicking again makes it open again.
Still to buy ("to buy")
Via the "To buy" toggle in the detail view you mark that something still needs to be bought. A shopping-cart icon appears on the item.
To do
Via the "To do" toggle you mark an open task. A "What needs to be done?" text field then appears where you can write a short description (e.g. "renew passport"). This text is shown directly on the item as a subline; without text a clock icon appears instead.
Notes
For every item you can add a note in the detail view (e.g. size, brand, reminder). Existing notes are indicated by a note icon on the item.
Weight
Below the note field you can – optionally – enter a weight in grams per unit. Details on this and the totals calculated from it are in a separate chapter, see Weight.
Automatic reset when checking off (with undo)
If you check an item off as packed that was still marked "to buy" and/or "to do", these markings are reset automatically – the assumption being: what is in the suitcase has already been bought and taken care of.
Right after that, a note with an "Undo" button appears for 6 seconds in case that wasn't intended. Notes and the "to do" text are always kept.
The reverse does not apply: if you switch off "to buy" or "to do", an item is not automatically marked as packed.
"To buy" & "To do" overviews
Above the list you find two buttons – "To buy" and "To do" – each with
the current count in parentheses. They are always visible; if nothing is
marked, it reads (0).
A click opens a sidebar that lists all items marked that way grouped by section and category. For "To do" the respective "What needs to be done?" text appears directly under the item. So you can see at a glance what still needs to be bought or done – without going through the whole list.
In the overview you can:
- check an entry off via its checkbox as bought or done – it then disappears from the list; right after that an "Undo" button appears for 6 seconds in case that wasn't intended.
- tap an entry to open the familiar detail view of the item (e.g. to edit the "to do" text or add a note).
If nothing is marked yet, the sidebar shows a short hint on how to add an item (via its detail view).
Quantity
The quantity is shown before the name. It can be changed in edit mode.
Detail view (sidebar)
A click on an item opens a sidebar with all details:
- hint/description and quantity,
- the status toggles (packed, to buy, to do),
- the note field,
- the weight field (in grams),
- and – if available – a product recommendation.
You close the sidebar via the X, a click outside, the Escape key or a swipe gesture.
Product recommendation (ad)
For some items there is a recommendation with a link to a matching product. Such links are affiliate links and clearly marked as "Ad" (Amazon affiliate; there are no extra costs for you).
