Weight

For every item you can optionally record a weight. The app forms totals per section and for the whole list from it – handy when you need to watch your luggage weight (flight, cycling, hiking). Optionally you can also break the weights down by stow groups (e.g. roof box or backpack) – across sections.

Recording weight

Open the detail view of an item (click the entry). Below the note field you enter – optionally – a weight in grams per unit. If an item has a weight, a small weight icon appears on it.

Like the note, the weight can be changed without a password – even on password-protected lists.

Totals per section

If you have entered a weight on items, every section and subsection heading shows the total weight (in g or kg) next to the count. For items with a quantity, the unit weight times quantity counts.

Weight overview

As soon as any weight is recorded, a weight button appears in the list info (bottom left, next to the travel medicine button) showing the total weight directly. It opens a weight overview with the totals per section, subsection and the overall total – individual items are not listed in this view.

If you have created stow groups (see below), you can switch at the top of the overview between Section and Stow group.

If you are travelling by car, there is additionally a car travel notes button (see Travel notes).

Stow groups

What is a stow group? A stow group describes where an item will later be stowed (e.g. roof box, backpack). The app shows all items per stow group and adds up the weights per group automatically – so you can see, for example, how heavy your roof box or your backpack gets.

This is handy because what travels physically together – say everything in the roof box or on the car roof – is often spread across many sections in the list. Stow groups bundle it independent of the section.

Creating and assigning

Open an item's detail view. Below the weight, under Stow group, pick an existing group – or create a new one via “+” (e.g. “Roof box”, “Anna's backpack”); the item is assigned to it right away. “None” removes the assignment again. As with the weight, this works without a password.

Viewing and managing

In the weight overview, switch to Stow group (once groups exist, this view is preselected). For each group you see the total and the items it contains. Items without a group are collected under “Unassigned”; the total weight is the same as in the section view.

Via Edit (pencil icon) on a group you change its name and optionally set a maximum load in kilograms. If the group gets heavier than allowed, the app marks it as “Overloaded”. Via Remove (trash icon) you only delete the group and clear the assignments – the items themselves are kept.
